About this activity

Travel in our air-conditioned buses towards your first stop the "Tjibaou Cultural Centre”. You will discover the unique architecture of the Center, a polycultural complex, mainly dedicated to Kanak art. This tour Includes entrance fees to the Cultural Centre and a guided tour of about 45 minutes. Then we will head towards the second stop located in the town of Mont Dore, the church at the Catholic mission of Conception, starting point of Christianity in New Caledonia with the statue of our lady at the top of its bell tower and the remarkable stained glass windows. Then your journey will continue to the lookout situated at Ouen Toro with a 360 ° view of the Caledonian lagoon and the areas of Mont Dore, Anse-Vata, Promenade Pierre Vernier, magnificent mountain ranges to name a few. Finally back to Nouméa city centre, passing by the marinas, town beaches, colonial houses and more… PLEASE NOTE : This tour is only operating when Cruise Ships are docked in Nouméa !!

45 min - You will discover the unique architecture of the Center, a polycultural complex, mainly dedicated to Kanak art. NOTE : In the event of the closure of the Cultural Center TJIBAOU (holidays or cultural events), this stop will be replaced by the natural water source in the town of Mont Dore.

10 min - The beautiful church at the Catholic mission of Conception, starting point of Christianity in New Caledonia. As well known under the name of “the church of the Miracles” with it's statue of our lady at the top of its bell tower, remarkable stained glass windows and it’s tropical surroundings with numerous fruit trees including lychee and mango.

Excellent

I have done this tour several times with various friends over many years and have always tried to have the wonderful Vivienne as our tour guide. Country Tour - definitely recommend

The tour exceeded expectations. Vivian, our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the city and the sights that we visited. Quirky commentary added to the experience and made for a very enjoyable day. Great value and we would definitely recommend this tour.

Great value tour

I booked this for a day in port from a cruise ship. It was excellent value compared to booking a tour through the cruise company. Online booking was easy, and their office is at the terminal or where the shuttle buses drop you if on a large cruise ship. Show your electronic receipt and you are given your ticket. Richard is a fantastic guide and we appreciated the history and information he imparted. I saw a show many years ago on the wonderful architecture of this complex, and since have always wanted to see it. We only did a walk through of the building, but it was obvious you could spend a few hours here if you had the time. It was good to see some of the countryside, and you come back along the bays and stop at the lookout which is like a tour in itself.

Quick Refund

Unfortunately Norwegian Cruise Line cancelled our port of call in Noumea. I had already booked and paid for the Country Tour, and when I contacted them they offered a refund, just asking for proof that the cruise line had cancelled the port call. I will book with Lyvai in the future if I ever get back to Noumea, New Caledonia.
