Great ride across Nouméa

Tour guide David was so much fun. Great way to understand the history and culture of Nouméa. You need to be at the departures point 20min prior to departure to guarantee the time of your booking even if you have the time confirmed by Viator. Screenshot of the ticket works, paper tickets not required.
It’s must do!

A delightful trip

The 90 minute trip on the iconic Green Train was quite a delight. The commentary and driving were excellent. We went along the seafront before climbing to a peak which overlooks the town, the sea and parts of the island. On the return journey we travelled through the town, which gave us an good idea of what was available. The commentary pointed out a good beach for swimming (Lemon Tree) and good restaurants, shops, etc., as well as historical and architectural features.
A good tip is to book a reasonable time in advance on the internet as it is cheaper that way than booking through the cruise line. Also, don't leave it to the last minute as when a cruise ship docks the train will almost certainly be fully booked.
Fun way to see Noumea

A great way to see the suburbs of Noumea and learn the best places to eat and swim. Our guide David was very funny and informative. A great 90 min tour of the highlights.
Our driver was captain Frédérque and he was extremely competent in maneuvering the train throughout the whole trip.

the informative commentary from David was very good. The trip covered lots of historical locations and some unique to Noumea. If you are visiting Noumea from a cruise ship you should not purchase the tour onboard but wait until you get on land
first and dropped off at the 'cruise ship terminal'. Nearly half price and the money goes into the Noumea economy and not the ships.
